Rescuing century-old trees
Ecuador holds an enormous diversity of ancestral cacao, but world demand pushes growers to fell these trees and plant generic varieties that fruit all year round. Part of our history is lost, and monoculture impoverishes the soil. Our answer is to rescue that ancestral genetics as a living library that preserves the knowledge of cacao for the generations to come.
